The purpose of the Conservation Commission is to protect the town's natural resources and maintain and improve environmental quality. By statute, the commission is responsible for the development, conservation, supervision and regulation of natural resources in the Town of Willington. The commission's duties include keeping an index of all open areas, including open marshlands, swamps and other wetlands, within the town and conducting research into the use and possible use or proposed use of open areas.
Promotion of conservation of natural resources is a high priority. The Conservation Commission has also been given by the town responsibility for managing the Fenton-Ruby Park and Wildlife Preserve.
Meetings are normally held at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month in the downstairs meeting room at the Willington Town Office Building. The public is invited to attend all meetings.
