New!!!                                  CATERPILLAR CLUB

Willington Youth, Family and Social Services is starting a new program called Caterpillar Club. This club is designed to give young children a chance to interact with their peers while their caregivers get a chance to socialize as well! There is no registration for this club and participation is FREE! Just bring a toy to share!

Caterpillar Club will meet on Thursday mornings from 9-11am in the community room of the Willington Public Library. Please enter through the last door on left hand side of library (by parking lot).

** Parents/Caregivers will need to stay with their child.**

SUMMER 2008 PROGRAMS

MUNCHKIN CAMP-
A camp week that is just right for young children.  Come join us for three days of fun, friends and hands on activities.
When: June 30th –July 2nd
Where: Old Town Hall- Common Road
Time: 10:00-11:30am
Cost: $15/child

SAFE KIDS
This week long camp is designed for children entering Kindergarten in the fall.  Participants will learn about a variety of topics including, poisons, bus safety, bike and pedestrian safety, fire safety and knowing the difference between good and bad strangers.
When: July 7th-July 11th
Where: Old Town Hall- Common Road
Time: 10:00-11:30am
Cost: $25/child

HELPING HAND-SESSION I -
This is a new program this summer! Are you a student in grades 7-12 who is looking for a way to lend a helping hand this summer? Do you enjoy working with other kids? Why not join us for a week of community service projects?
When: July 14th-July 18th
Where: Sites to be determined (will likely be a different location each day)
Time: 9am-12:00pm
Cost: $10/child (includes t-shirt)

STORYBOOK ADVENTURES
(Co-sponsored by Willington Public Library)
This is another new program this summer!  Each day we will go on a new storybook adventure.  Participants will explore books through crafts and activities designed to make the books come alive.
Who: Kindergarten -3rd Graders
When: August 4th –August 8th
Where: Willington Public Library (Community Room)
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
Cost: $25/child

HELPING HAND-SESSION II
This week of Helping Hands will be very similar to Session I but is designed for students in grades 4-6.   Are you looking for a way to lend a helping hand this summer? Do you enjoy working with other kids? Why not join us for a week of community service projects?
When: August 11th-August 17th
Where: Sites to be determined (will likely be a different location each day)
Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
Cost: $10/child (Includes t-shirt)

LAKE COMPOUNCE TRIP

Willington Youth Services is sponsoring a one day trip to Lake Compounce for Willington students entering grades 6-9.  The kids will board a bus at the Town office building and spend the day enjoying the rides, food and fun at Lake Compounce Amusement Park. Participants will need to be a brown bag lunch.  Admission to the park is included in participation cost.

        When: Wednesday June 25, 2008
Time:  Meet at Town Office Building (40 Old Farms Road) at 9:45am. We will depart at 10:00am.  We will depart from Lake Compounce at 5:00pm and return to Town Office Building at approx. 6:00pm.
Cost: $20/child- includes admission to park.

**Trip is limited to first 40 registered participants.  8 Chaperones are needed. If you are interested in chaperoning please contact Karly at 487-3118.  Chaperones will need to pay participation cost as well. ($20)

RENTER'S REBATE

Applications for the Renter's Rebate program will be accepted beginning May 15th. This program is open to the elderly and disabled who rented their home in 2007. Please contact Karly at 487-3118 to set up an appointment.  Applications will be accepted through September 15th.

        
Donations Needed

The Willington Fuel Bank and Emergency Assistance funds are in need of donations.  The weather is changing and requests for assistance are starting to come in.  If you would like to donate you can either send your donation to: WYFSS at 40 Old Farms Road, Willington, CT 06279 or contact Karly Howell at 487-3118 with questions or for more information. Donations are tax deductible.
