TOWN OF WILLINGTON
MINUTES
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
October 3, 2007
The meeting was called to order at 7:00p.m. by Michael Eldredge.
First Selectman read the call of the meeting and asked for nominations for a
moderator. Robert Shabot made a motion to appoint Michael Eldredge as moderator and was seconded by Bob Jellen.
Motion carried.
Item I
To see if the townspeople, on the recommendation of the Board of Finance will authorize the appropriation of $100,000 from Capital Reserve Funds for construction of a water main from Rivers Edge Condominiums on Depot Road to Hall Memorial School.
Moderator read Item I
A motion was made by Bob Jellen and seconded by Mark Palmer to approve Item I
Discussion followed. First Selectman Eldredge explained the appropriation and the connection from Depot Road to Hall School and what it entailed.
Christine Psathas stated that the town is currently under a consent order by the state of Connecticut’s Department of Public Health due to the fact that the oil tank at Hall Memorial School is too close to the well.
In a letter dated December 27, 2006 from the Public Health Department regarding the consent order was a quote on page 2--
5. The Respondent will achieve and maintain compliance with the requirements of Section 19-13-B51 of RCSA in accordance with the following schedule:
a. On or before December 31, 2007, the Respondent shall verify in writing to the Department that Hall Memorial School is now a customer of Birmingham Utilities, Inc. and that the existing well has been physically disconnected from the water system.
Motion carried.
Item II
To see if the townspeople, on the recommendation of the Board of Finance, will
authorize the increase of the original appropriation of $69,300 (approved August 9, 2006) to $95,000 from Capital Reserve Funds to design and construct the interconnection of public water from the main in Route 32 to Hall Memorial School.
Moderator read Item II
A motion was made by Laurie Semprebon and seconded by Mark Palmer to approve Item II.
No discussion.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Bob Jellen and seconded by Christine Psathas to adjourn the meeting at 7:10 p.m.
