TOWN OF WILLINGTON
MINUTES
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
October 12, 2005
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Michael Eldredge.
First Selectman read the call of the meeting and asked for nominations for a
moderator. James Poole made a motion to appoint Michael Eldredge
as moderator and was seconded by Ralph Tulis.
Motion carried.
Item I
To see if the townspeople, on the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen, will amend the portion of the “Ordinance Establishing a Street Numbering System” and change the names of Turnpike Road 1 and Turnpike Road 2 to Turnpike Road and Turnpike Road Extension .
Moderator read Item I.
A motion was made by Ralph Tulis and seconded by Terry Gareau to approve Item I.
There was no discussion.
Motion carried.
Item II
To see if the townspeople, on the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen, will amend the portion of the “Ordinance Establishing a Street Numbering System” and change the names of Mihaliak
Road 1 and Mihaliak Road 2 to Mihaliak Road and Mihaliak Road Extension.
Moderator read Item II
A motion was made by Ralph Tulis and seconded by Howard Emond Jr. to approve Item II.
There was no discussion.
Motion carried.
Item III
To see if the townspeople on the recommendation of the Board of Finance, will authorize the
expenditure of $67,000 from the Capitol Reserve Fund for the purpose of funding the River Road Athletic Complex.
The moderator read Item III.
A motion was made by Jack Lewis and seconded by Bob Mortello to approve Item III.
Discussion followed.
Ralph Tulis was concerned whether they would contact DEP on the Turf Management and should also contact UConn Plant Sciences for general maintenance recommendations of the fields.
Howard Edmond Jr. urged that the town bond for the remaining cost of the project. Michael Eldredge commented to Mr. Emond that he bring it to a Selectmen’s Meeting.
Jim Poole wanted to make sure the Rec Commission understands that when the project goes out for bid that the $67,000 was the total available to spend.
Terry Gareau asked if the Rec Commission had looked into any grants for the project.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Ed Taiman and seconded by Gary Bruce to adjourn the meeting at 7:20 p.m.
