TOWN OF WILLINGTON
MINUTES
July 22, 2003
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
The meeting was called to order, following the public hearing at 8:41 P.M. by John Patton, First Selectman.
John Patton read the call of the meeting and asked for nominations for a moderator.
Jim Harvey and Dan Avery were nominated for moderator and both declined.
Jim Harvey made a motion to nominate John Patton as moderator of the meeting and was seconded by Al St Lewis. The nominations were closed. Motion carried for moderator.
Moderator read Item 1.
Item I
To see if the townspeople, on the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen will adopt the Ordinance to Establish a Fire Commission.
Item I was petitioned to go to a referendum as yes or no vote. This item will not be voted on tonight.
This meeting will be adjourning to referendum.
Judy Andersen, Registrar of Voters, asked if we could have the time between 12:00PM and 8:00P.M.which is according to State Statue but some people express concerns that people who work 2nd shifts would not get to vote. There will be absentee ballots available also.
A motion was made and modified by Mike Makuch to hold the referendum on August 5, 2003 between the hours of 6:00AM and 8:00PM. and seconded by David Ketchum.
Motion was carried
Peter Latincsics ask if there could be a mailing sent out town wide and was told yes.
John also added that people could check our Web Page, www.willingtonct.org.
A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:50P.M.
