WILLINGTON BOARD OF EDUCATION

FACILITY COMMITTEE
MINUTES
        
April 22, 2008, 6:00 p.m.
Town Office Building, Superintendent’s Conference Room



The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by chairman, Mark Makuch.

                        
PRESENT:                Mark Makuch, Christina Mailhos, Herbert Arico (arrived late), also
                        PersonNameChristine Psathas and Superintendent PersonNameDavid Harding.

DISCUSSION:     Because of her familiarity with the issues on the agenda Mrs. Psathas
was asked to participate freely in the discussion although she is not a
member of this committee.

Landscaping of the front of Hall Memorial School – The area at issue is where the lawn was despoiled for the installation of a public water supply.  Various schemes for allowing students safe passage to the front door while protecting the school grounds were discussed, and the committee agreed to visit the site prior to a final decision.

Prioritize future projects – As at all Facility Committee meetings the running list of needful projects was reviewed and tweaked for repairs made and new challenges recognized during the past month.

The news of a grant, by the State to the Town, of funds for the provision of public water to the elementary school, was shared by Mrs. Semprebon.

The meeting was called to order at 6:45 p.m. by chairman Herbert Arico.

DISCUSSION:     Superintendent Harding brought the committee up to date on how the
actual expenditures are bearing out in comparison to the amounts budgeted, including presentation and review of unexpected year end expenses due to emergency repairs, staff changes and mandated student needs.

The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
