YOGA-BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!!

Program Information-Therapeutic Yoga
These yoga classes are for everyone who wants to improve their health and well-being.  Therapeutic Yoga is a carefully designed and extensive program using gentle and restorative yoga, modified postures, breath work and meditation with the intent of giving relief from physical pain and improving joint and organ functions.

Participants will improve their posture and flexibility.  The posture positions improve blood circulation; promote sound sleep and relaxation allowing the body to heal itself.  The individually guided breathing techniques promote harmony and release stress.  This class is especially appropriate for individuals who wish to get their bodies back to health after illness, surgery or injury.  It can help those suffering from various difficult physical conditions, like back pain and arthritis.  The techniques taught are appropriate for beginners, older adults as well as advanced yoga students.

Session 1: September 29th –November 17th with no classes on October 13th
and November 10th.

Class Times and Location: Monday Nights 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Center School, 12 Old Farms Road, Willington.
Cost:  The program fee (per session) is $35 for six classes.  Drop in fee $7/class.
Equipment:  All students must bring their own mat and big towel.
Registration: Preregistration is required.  Participation based on space availability.

2008-2009 Youth Basketball Registration Begins September 2 and ends October 3rd!! Late Fee of $10.00 until October 10th.

Open to grades 1-8.

Fee is $45; $90 Family max. Late Fee $10 Instructional $35

Karate – Traditional Shaolin Kempo Karate for all ages presented by Hidden Dragon Karate. Trained instructors under the direct supervision of Fifth Degree Master Rod Fuller, 2007 Master of the Year, will teach the program. The program will run for six weeks, on Friday Nights and Saturdays beginning May 30th. The cost is $40 per student. Classes will be held at the Hidden Dragon Karate II Dojo, 15 River Road, Willington.

High School Basketball Program 2008-2009
Program Information
Players
This program is available to boys grades 9th-12th.

Fee:  $25.00 for Willington Residents Only.
Registration
Registration will be limited to twenty, on a first come first served basis.
The registration form must be completely filled out, accompanied by the appropriate fee and returned to the Recreation Department Office to register. Registrations will not be accepted at the gym.

Season
The season will run from November 16th-March 8th (with no session on 11/30/08, 12/28/08, 1/4/09, 2/15/09 and 2/22/09) on Sunday afternoons 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Hall Memorial  School gymnasium on Route 32 in Willington.

Registrations are not longer accepted-this program is full.
Over Thirty Basketball - Registration runs September 2nd-September 15th for all Willington Residents.  After September 15th registration is open to all non residents.  The program is limited to 20 players-first come first served basis.  
Season starts September 28th and ends June 14th on Sunday nights 7:00pm- 9:00pm.

NEW SESSION STARTING September 20th thru October 25th.
Basic Foil Fencing – The Willington Recreation Dept.will be offering a basic course in modern foil fencing (not theatrical fencing) this fall.  Each session will have six classes. This program is available to male and females from age 9 to adult. This course is intended for students with no prior experience in fencing.
Saturday mornings 9:00am-10am at the Old Town Hall, Jared Sparks Road, Willington

We will also offer open fencing this fall, for experienced fencers.

Summer Camp-2008 Has Finished Another Great Year!!
The kids had alot of fun doing various activities and built friendships to last a lifetime.  Parent packets will be sent out shortly, please take the time to complete the parent/child survey.

NEW SESSION STARTING in the Fall!! Dates to come!
Beginning Iaido- Iaido is the art of sword drawing. Our program will cover the basic techniques of Iaido and the proper handling of the Japanese sword. We will discuss its history, train in the traditional methods of; kata and bokken work (individual and partner exercises) as well as challenge your mind with discussions on the Bunkai (actual interpretations) of each movement. Prior martial arts experience is not necessary; the curriculum will be adjusted accordingly to develop a challenging and rewarding experience for each individual. An approved Instructor of the North American San Shin Kai (NASSK) Federation will provide your training.
The program will run for six weeks dates to be determined 7:00 to 9:00, and will be held at the old Town Hall, Jared Sparks Road, Willington, CT. The cost is $60 per student, and is open to males and females, ages 13 to adult. All equipment will be provided.
