07/22/08 Meeting Minutes
Call to order:~ P. Andersen called the meeting to order at 7:08 PM.
Present: P. Andersen, K. Demers, M. Drobney, M. Schreiber, R. Shabot
Approval of 6/24/08 minutes: Motion: MS/ MD, minutes approved. KD abstained, 4 ayes.
Present to speak: NA
Treasurers Report: ~NA
Old Business
FRP-DS: PA did some brush cutting at the park. There was discussion on the grading of Burma Road.
Trails Report: No report.
Park Activities: ~No plans for the next month.
Willimantic River Alliance: ~No report.
Town Development: Subdivisions: No report
CC Website Development: No report
Open Space /Easement Monitoring: Tabled
Willimantic Greenway: Pecks Mill Site: There is still final trail markings and signage to be completed on this project.
Talmadge Tract: The drafting of a Talmadge Tract park management plan is ongoing
Policies/Guidelines for Town Open Space Parcels:~ There was discussion on defining the term committed open space and open space the designation of activities that can occur on these parcels. KD will draft a definition to share at the next meeting.
Willington Heights Open Space Management Authority:~ At the 7/15 PZC meeting Willington Recreation Commission pursuant to CGS Section 8-24 sought approval to manage a 3.905 acre, designated open space in Willington Heights Subdivision for recreational purposes (ball field) - Angela/Ashley Lanes off Spak/Lohse Roads . The following motion was made “The Conservation Commission has use of the land for 10 years or until the POCD is amended.” Jim Poole is still interested in stewardship of this parcel. Cleanup at the site will begin this fall. It was suggested that PA draft a letter to be sent to neighboring residents informing them of these plans.  .
September Flea Market 9/6/08: The WCC has a space at the Flea Market on the Green.
Knowlton Grant: The Joshua Trust Conservation Coordinator completed research and is looking towards approval of the Acquisitions Committee. The Acquisitions Committee has completed its review and an affirmative vote for $15,000.00 to aid in the purchase. It will be submitted to the full Joshua’s Trust board of Trustees the very near future

New Business.
Communications: Incoming mail was dispersed. ~
Other: RS presented the notion of a rain barrel fundraiser for the WCC. The information was from the Farmington River Water Conservation Assoc.
Next Meeting: Tuesday, July 22, 2008.
Adjournment: On a motion by KD/MD meeting adjourned at 10:10 PM. So moved.
