06/24/08 Meeting Minutes
Call to order: P. Andersen called the meeting to order at 7:09 PM.
Present: P. Andersen, M. Drobney, C. Jordan, P. Pribula, M. Schreiber, R. Shabot, L. Centola On a motion by CJ/PP Lisa Centola is seated for KD. Unanimous.
Approval of 5/27/08 minutes: Motion: PP/ MD ,minutes approved. CJ abstained, 6 ayes.
Present to speak: NA
Treasurer’s Report: FY 07/08 balance is $401.78.
Old Business
Open Space: NRI/OSP: Revision of map sets will be added to the NRI/OSP.
FRP-DS: RS and MS reported on the impact of the grading of Burma Road has on Taylor Pond and park environs. PA will draft a letter of concern to BoS on the matter.
Trails Report: No report.
Park Activities: None for the upcoming month.
Willimantic River Alliance: There is a new boat put in on Plains Road, Mansfield, CT.
Willimantic Greenway: Peck’s Mill Site: There is still final trail markings and signage to be completed on this project.
Town Development: Subdivisions: There is an IWWC public hearing on 7/28/08 for Winterberry Estates.
Talmadge Tract: The drafting of a Talmadge Tract park management plan is ongoing. CT Trails Day hosted a hike on the Talmadge Trail Spur on 6/07.
Knowlton Parcel: The Knowlton Property State Open Space grant application was submitted on 6/16/08. Joshua’s Trust is moving forward in the Acquisition Subcommittee with a justification proposal for committing funding towards the proposed purchase. CFPA has already committed funding towards the proposed purchase.
Policies/Guidelines for Town Open Space Parcels: PZC will discuss the Willington Heights open space parcel on 7/1/08.
Open Space /Easement Monitoring: Tabled.
CC Website Development: LC participated in a webinar on 6/23/08 regarding the adoption of a template for the “Virtual Town Hall” website. Content for WCC’s individual webpage was discussed.
September Flea Market 9/6/08: The WCC has a space at the Flea Market on the Green.
FY 2007-2008 Budget A purchase order for $400.00 is open with Willard Lumber to purchase lumber.
FY 2008-2009: There is funding for training and education for members.
New Business.
Communications: Incoming mail was dispersed.
Other : Nominations for 08 Daly Award were discussed.
