Adopt-a-Road is an informal roadside rid litter program. Volunteers are asked to pick up trash along their adopted road(s) on an as-needed basis. The aim of the program is to keep Willington as free of litter as possible, improving the appearance of the roadsides and reducing hazards to wildlife.
Volunteers are reminded to walk facing traffic and may wish to wear gloves. The town transfer station attendant will have a list of Adopt-a-Road participants and will waive fees normally charged for such items as tires. Volunteers can report to the Selectman's office for any items too large for them to handle and transport.
Sign up at the Conservation Commission booth during Willington Day on Memorial Day weekend, at the September Flea Market on the Town Green, or e-mail Bob Bittner at R.Bittner@snet.net
